Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Manoj Jarange, an activist advocating for the Maratha quota, issued a strong warning to the state government on Tuesday. He stated that severe consequences would result if elections proceed without addressing the Maratha community's demand for reservation. Jarange announced a large gathering, the Dasara Melava, in Narayangadh of Beed district and urged Marathas to participate in significant numbers during the Dasara festival. Emphasizing that he will not compromise on any demands, including the withdrawal of criminal cases against community members, Jarange warned the state government about potential backlash in the upcoming elections if the Maratha community's demands are not met. He stressed that unity and perseverance are essential for the community's fight for reservation, highlighting that this issue is not just about reservation but also about dignity and equality for the Marathas who are facing challenges at the grassroots level. Jarange criticized a segment of the ruling party for creating obstacles and called for recognition of the entire Maratha community as distinct from 'Kunbis', with reservation separate from the existing OBC quota. However, various political parties, including the ruling coalition, have not taken a clear stance on the matter. Despite Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's government promising to address the issue, progress has been slow, leading to increased dissatisfaction within the community.
